Born on 26 July 1875 in Kesswil, Switzerland Carl Gustav Jung was a psychologist, psychiatrist and the man responsible for founding analytical psychology.

Jung discovered philosophy in his teens and became widely read, he was a student of the University of Basel in 1895-1900 where he studied medicine to become a psychiatrist. And graduated from the University of Zurich in 1902 where he earned his M.D.

He became a staff member of the Burghölzli Asylum of the University of Zurich, where he applied association tests on the patients there. During World War I, Jung was drafted as a doctor.

In 1907 Jung met Sigmund Freud and started an earnest correspondence with him.

Jung published his book Psychology of the Unconscious in 1912, which was a study of the transformations and symbolisms of the libido.

During his time as a psychiatrist, he developed psychotherapeutic methods which he gathered from his own experiences and developed theories. These studies then led Jung to spearhead psychotherapy for the elderly.
