James Madison, Jr. Short Biography

Born on 16 March 1751 in Port Conway, Virginia, United States, James Madison, Jr. was one of the Founding Fathers of America and the 4th President.

In 1769, Madison enrolled in Princeton University, which was then known as the College of New Jersey. Madison completed his four-year course in only two years.

In 1775, Madison was given the position of colonel to the Orange County army. Four years after, he was elected into the Second Continental Congress, which was then considered the governing body of the United States.

To many Americans, James Madison is considered the Father of the Constitution. He drafted the first 10 amendments, which are more popularly known as the Bill of Rights

Madison is also responsible for establishing the Democratic-Republican Party, which he founded with Thomas Jefferson.

James Madison became the 4th President of the United States of America in 1809 and served for eight years.
