Karl Anthony Malone Short Biography
Born on 24 July 1963, in Summerfield, Louisiana, United States, Karl Anthony Malone was a basketball star and one of the NBA’s 50 All-Time Greatest Players, with career records for his free throws.
Malone joined the Louisiana Tech University basketball team in his second year of college. After graduating, Malone joined the 1985 NBA Draft and was chosen by the Utah Jazz.
A year following his draft, Malone made the 1986 NBA All-Rookie Team. He participated in his first All-Star Game in 1988, Malone would go on to participate in 14 All-Star Games throughout his basketball career.
At the 1989 NBA All-Star Game, Malone was awarded NBA All-Star Most Valuable Player. During his career with Utah Jazz, the team would go on to win 60 games by the 1994-1995 season.
During their time with the Utah Jazz, Malone and fellow player John Stockton would form the most productive guard-forward combination in NBA’s history. Malone was nicknamed “the Mailman” for his ability to always “deliver”. (Source)
Malone joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2003-2004 for his last season, Malone sustained a knee injury during the season and returned for the season’s end.
Karl Malone officially retired from the NBA on February 13, 2005, he returned to the Utah Jazz in 2013 to coach.
