Madeleine Albright Short Biography
Born on 15 May 1937 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Madeleine Albright, born as Marie Jana Korbel, was the 1st woman to be the US Secretary of State and was the US ambassador to the United Nations.
Albright graduated from Wellesley College in 1959 and she went on to receive her master’s in 1968 from Columbia University. Albright also received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1976.
During the 1980s -1990s, Albright worked for several non-profit organizations. In 1982- 1993, Albright was teaching international affairs as a professor at Georgetown University.
In 1993, Albright was named ambassador to the United Nations by then-President Bill Clinton. And in 1997, she was unanimously voted into the position of secretary of state.
Albright has also authored several books such as Memo to the President-Elect, which she published in 2008.
