Og Mandino Short Biography
Born on 12 December 1923 in Framingham, Massachusetts, United States, Augustine “Og” Mandino II was a best-selling author.
Mandino wanted to take up journalism after he graduated high school, but due to his mother’s death, he was forced to find work in a paper factory where he worked until 1942.
Soon after leaving the paper factory, he joined the United States Army Corps. When the war ended in 1945, Mandino found work as an insurance salesman. After some time Mandino became an alcoholic and because of this, he failed to keep his job. Mandino began thinking thoughts of suicide due to his misfortunes.
Luckily for him, he found himself in a library instead, where he found books on self-help and success. From then on Mandino was hooked. Reading helped to lessen his alcoholism.
Mandino’s life changed when he came across Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, written by W. Clement Stone. It inspired him to become a writer and a speaker.
In 1968, Mandino published his most popular and well-known work The Greatest Salesman in the World and this went on to become his best-selling book.
