Mahatma Gandhi, a selfless man who worked unceasingly to win the independence of India (from Britain) in 1947 through nonviolent peaceful campaigns.
Born on 2 October 1869 as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, this man was once acclaim as the “spokesman for the conscience of man.”
He was given the title Mahatma – which means Great Soul – in April 1915 by the residents of Gurukul Kangadi (Mahatma is equivalent to Saint in Western society).
Gandhi is a well-respected leader across the globe due to his courage and humility in pursuing peace through relentless love and nonviolent approaches.
Mahatma Gandhi’s life is a clear message to all of us that everyone (especially, minorities and women) deserved freedom… and freedom could be won without any need for violence or fear.
