Norman Vincent Peale Short Biography
Born 31 May 1898 in Bowersville, Ohio, United States, Norman Vincent Peale was an inspirational leader and author.
In 1922 he was ordained as a Methodist minister, furthered his religious studies, and earned a Bachelor of Sacred Theology and an M.A. in social ethics from Boston University in 1924.
Peale became a pastor for the Marble Collegiate Church for 52 years when he changed his religious association to the Reformed Church in America in 1932.
Peale and his colleague Smiley Blanton, founded a religio-psychiatric outpatient clinic and in 1951 this became known as the American Foundation of Religion and Psychiatry.
In 1935, Peale had a radio program that lasted 54 years, it was entitled The Art of Living. It was also available on television when the medium became available.
Of the long list of Peale’s accomplishments, his most significant and well known is his self-help book entitled The Power of Positive Thinking, which was published in 1952. It was on the New York Times Best Seller list for 186 weeks and is considered his most popular work.
