Scottie Pippen Short Biography

Born 25 September 1965, in Hamburg, Arkansas, United States, Scotty Maurice Pippen (usually spelled “Scottie”) was a former professional American basketball player.

Pippen became a student for the University of Central Arkansas in 1983, where he played college basketball until 1987 when he graduated and was selected for the NBA draft.

He made his NBA debut on November 7, 1987, with the Chicago Bulls during a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, donning the number 33.

At the end of Pippen’s first game, he had contributed 10 points, 2 steals, 4 assists, and 1 rebound.

During Scottie Pippen’s time with the Chicago Bulls, he had formed a friendship and partnership with fellow player Michael Jordan.

In the 1988 NBA playoffs, Pippen would play as small forward, a role that would enable him to assist the Chicago Bulls to many future victories.

In 1992, Pippen along with Michael Jordan and 10 other players would find themselves playing in that year’s Summer Olympics.

Dubbed ‘The Dream Team’ they would go on to win the Olympics that year, bringing home the gold for the United States, making Scottie Pippen, one of the first NBA players to win both Olympic gold and an NBA championship in the same year.

In 1994, Pippen was awarded Allstar MVP Honors. And in 1997, he was voted as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history, to commemorate the 50th founding anniversary of the NBA.

Scottie Pippen has won 6 championship rings, all with the Chicago Bulls. He retired from the NBA in 2008.
